Colour shapes emotion in the garden. 💓
Warm tones invite energy. Cool tones create calm. And it's all about a sense of beauty. 🌸🌿

In my latest blog post, I explore colour theory and the colour wheel through the lens of my own garden, and how different colour relationships help create atmosphere, movement, and balance throughout the seasons.

A quiet kind of magic lives in the understory. 🌿
Jack-in-the-pulpit isn’t flashy, but it doesn’t need to be. With its hooded spathe and hidden spadix, it feels more like a secret than a flower.

This native woodland gem thrives in shade, emerging in spring with a presence that’s both curious and mysterious. The kind of plant you don’t just see… you notice.

My latest blog explores the mystique behInd it.💚
Have you ever spotted one in the wild?💚

Top of my favourites, and it’s easy to see why… 🌸
This semi-cascade flowering almond (Prunus triloba ‘Atriplex’) by @davideasterbrookbonsai drapes itself in clouds of double pink blooms, somewhere between cotton candy and a spring daydream. Light, fleeting, and completely enchanting.
.
Clouds or cotton candy… what do you see?

All of these are from past summers in my garden 🌿
Which arrangement is your favorite?💓
.
.
Look past the arrangement 👀
Each lily has its own identity: Oriental, Asiatic, OT…
More than flowers, they’re a whole world of classification.

Four arrangements… ten years of love 🌸
.
For a decade, dahlias filled my late summers with abundance, color, and that quiet thrill of bringing armfuls of blooms indoors. These bouquets are more than arrangements… they are memories.
.
Which one speaks to you the most?
.
This year, I lost all my tubers. It still stings to say it out loud. But a garden teaches us, gently and stubbornly, that nothing is ever truly the end.
.
Dahlias or not dahlias… the story continues. Read on in my latest blog post 🌿

Soft catkins, tiny tree. 🌿
A pussy willow bonsai welcoming spring. 🌱✨
.
.
A few years ago, my husband @davideasterbrookbonsai brought me pussy willow branches from Vermont, collected along a country road. He rooted a cutting from one. This charming miniature tree is the result. 🌿✨

🌸 Which arrangement do you prefer: 1, 2, or 3?
.
Here are three peony arrangements I created for our annual peony show. Each one highlights different forms and colors, and I love the challenge of letting the blooms speak for themselves while building a balanced composition.
.
If you’d like to see more arrangements and read about the process behind them, I shared additional photos in my latest blog post. 🌿
